about crooked stave brewing co.
Founded in 2010 by Chad Yakobson, Crooked Stave Brewing Co. began as the Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project- a bold exploration at the intersection of science and artistry. Rooted in a deep curiosity for fermentation and a reverence for traditional methods, the brewery quickly earned acclaim for its pioneering work with wild and barrel-aged beers, pushing boundaries and redefining what American craft beer could be.
Today, Crooked Stave is majority woman-owned and operated by Yetta Vorobik, while Yakobson remains involved as a guiding visionary. The brewery has entered a new era: one that honors its innovative roots while embracing the evolving tastes of today’s drinkers. The result is a dynamic and thoughtful portfolio that bridges tradition and modernity with intention and creativity.
Located in the Sunnyside neighborhood of Denver, Crooked Stave operates a 25hL brewhouse alongside a 30hL coolship, producing between 6,500 and 7,000 barrels annually. Its offerings now span a wide spectrum; from crisp, refined lagers and hop-forward IPAs to decadent stouts, experimental small-batch releases, and the expressive barrel-aged sour beers that first put the brewery on the map.
Driven by a small, passionate team, Crooked Stave remains deeply committed to its craft. Each beer is an exercise in balance, intention, and character, thoughtfully brewed, carefully refined, and unmistakably its own.
